Hey family!!! In today’s NEW What’s For Dinner video we’re making two new budget friendly meals! We show y’all how to make them, how long it takes to make them, and how much it costs. This week we’re making French Brea Taco Pizza & Cowboy Casserole! We’ve tried other cowboy casseroles in the past, but never this one. Watch to find out if these get a 5 STAR RATING!
French Bread Taco Pizza Recipe:
1 loaf French bread
1/2 lb ground beef
2 tablespoons taco seasoning mix
1/3 cup water
1 can (16 oz) refried beans NOTE: I used salsa instead of refried beans.
1 yellow bell pepper, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
1/2 cup thinly sliced red onion
1 1/2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend (6 oz) NOTE: I used Fiesta Blend.
1 cup shredded lettuce NOTE: I didn’t have any lettuce. I did use a little cilantro.
Heat oven to 425°F. Line large cookie sheet with foil. Cut bread in half lengthwise, then in half crosswise. Place on cookie sheet, cut sides up. Place in oven to lightly toast, about 5 minutes.
In 6-inch skillet, cook beef over medium-high heat until brown, stirring frequently; drain. Add taco seasoning mix and water; cook until thickened.
Spread refried beans over toasted bread. Top with beef mixture, bell pepper, onion and cheese. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until cheese is melted. Top with lettuce and tomato.
Cowboy Casserole recipe:
1 lb ground beef NOTE: I used 1.5 pounds.
1 can (16 oz) baked beans
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
2 cups Original Bisquick mix
2/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (2 oz)
Heat oven to 425°F. In 10-inch skillet, cook beef over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thoroughly cooked; drain.
Stir baked beans and barbecue sauce into beef. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Pour into 2-quart casserole.
Meanwhile, in medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix, milk and butter until soft dough forms.
Drop dough by 12 spoonfuls onto beef mixture.
Bake uncovered 18 to 22 minutes or until topping is golden brown. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake about 3 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.
